Earn While
You Learn
Start at Tier 2A at $16.87/hr with the potential to earn up to $27.49/hr.
Pay increase every 6 months based on performance, with two one-year department rotations.
Must make satisfactory progress towards a 2-year certificate to progress to year 3.
Elevate to Tier 3B at $19.79/hr with earning potential up to $32.26/hr.
Earn three weeks of vacation and rotation to a third department.
Continued pursuit of an associate’s degree is encouraged.
Advance to Tier 3C at $21.92/hr with earning potential up to $35.73/hr.
Rotation to a fourth department.

An enthusiasm for learning and a commitment to growth. Specific educational backgrounds vary.
Apprentices are expected to complete a certificate by the end of the first two years. After obtaining their certificate, they are strongly encouraged to pursue an associate’s degree. To continue in the program, apprentices must either complete the certificate or demonstrate acceptable progress toward achieving it.
Apprentices should utilize Northwest State Community College or Owens Community College for obtaining their certificate. Other colleges may be approved if their curriculum and cost meet North Star’s standards.
Apprentices must remain employed with North Star for a minimum of two years after completing the program. Departing before this period may result in a requirement to repay tuition assistance.
Apprentices are required to maintain satisfactory attendance and adhere to all safety standards throughout their training.
